Plumbing for Portage County Towns, Townships and Farms
Portage County stretches from farm country along the Stark County line up to fast-growing suburbs near the Ohio Turnpike, with Kent and Ravenna in the middle. K & K Plumbing serves a wide band of the county from our East Canton shop. Portage is outside our core Stark and Summit area, and its northern towns are among the farthest we travel to, so please call ahead to confirm scheduling.
Communities We Serve in Portage County
Each of these communities has its own page covering local housing, typical problems and how far it is from our shop. Distances are straight-line miles from East Canton.
Southern Portage: closest to us
These communities are mostly rural, with private wells common outside village and township centers.
- Randolph (about 17 miles): farms, barns and hydrants
- Deerfield (about 21 miles): year-round homes and Berlin Lake cottages
- Rootstown (about 22 miles): new construction alongside older farmhouses
- Diamond (about 24 miles): rural homes on wells and septic
Central and northern Portage: the outer edge
These towns are on municipal water in most neighborhoods, with older housing near their centers and newer development on the edges.
- Kent (about 26 miles): a college town with many rentals
- Ravenna (about 26 miles): the county seat, with older homes and service lines
- Streetsboro (about 31 miles): newer homes and commercial buildings
- Windham (about 33 miles): the farthest point of our area
A County With Two Kinds of Plumbing
Portage County's plumbing calls split along the same line as its landscape. In the rural south and east, homes depend on wells and septic systems. Pressure tank failures, worn pumps, hard and iron-heavy water, and frozen lines to barns and garages lead the list. Seasonal cottages near Berlin Lake add winterizing and spring startup.
In Kent, Ravenna and Streetsboro, the issues look more like any established suburb or small city: aging galvanized supply pipe in older neighborhoods, roots in clay sewer laterals, basement backups, original water heaters wearing out in newer subdivisions, and plenty of commercial and rental property work.
Freeze and thaw cycles hit both halves of the county. Lake-effect snow bands reach the northern townships more often than they reach us in Stark County, and long cold stretches test any pipe that runs along an outside wall, through a crawl space or out to a detached garage. Insulating vulnerable lines and fitting frost-free outdoor faucets before winter is far cheaper than repairing a split pipe in January.

What the Distance Means for You
We would rather be honest than overpromise. Randolph and Deerfield are a reasonable drive for us; Kent, Ravenna, Streetsboro and Windham are at the far end of our routes. We schedule Portage County work on days we are already headed north or east, and we group nearby jobs together.
Planned projects fit that model well. If you have an urgent problem, call anyway; we will tell you plainly when we can arrive. Bundling several small repairs into one visit is a smart way to make the trip worthwhile.
It also helps to tell us as much as you can when you call: the address, what you are seeing, the age of the house and whether you are on a well or city water. With that information we can bring the right parts and often finish in a single trip, which matters a great deal when the drive is long.
Containing a Leak Before We Arrive
On municipal water, close the main shutoff near the meter. On a well, switch off the pump breaker and close the valve near the pressure tank. Open a low faucet to drain the lines, turn off the water heater, move belongings and take photos. Then call 330-875-8003 for emergency leak containment. We also offer plumbing damage inspections and insurance assistance.
Maintenance Agreement and Booking
Our Residential Plumbing Maintenance Agreement is especially useful at the edge of our area. It costs $189 per year or $378 for three years and includes an annual inspection, priority service, emergency support, 10% off labor and materials and no service-charge minimums. It renews automatically and transfers with the home.
Call Monday through Friday 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM or Saturday 8:00 AM to noon. Estimates are free. For towns outside Portage County, see our service areas.
