Navarre Plumbing Corrections for Basements and Drainage
Navarre is a small village in southwestern Stark County near the Tuscarawas River, where basements, groundwater and drainage get plenty of attention. Many of the plumbing items we correct here involve where water goes once it leaves the house, or the basement. K & K Plumbing serves Navarre from about 13 miles away in East Canton, along with Brewster, Beach City and Bolivar.
Clear Water Does Not Belong in the Sanitary Line
Groundwater from a sump pit, rain from downspouts and water from footer drains are often called clear water. It may look harmless, but sending it into a sanitary sewer or septic system causes real trouble. It overloads treatment plants during storms, it can flood a septic system and push sewage back into the house, and it is a common item on inspection reports.
We see sump pumps discharging into laundry tubs, floor drains or cleanouts, downspouts piped into old clay lines, and footer tile connected to the house drain decades ago. Correcting these usually means rerouting the discharge outside to an approved location and sealing the old connection.
Basement Items Common Around Navarre
Low-lying lots and older foundations show up in the reports we get:
Older homes near the river may also have a basement floor drain that connects to the same line as the house sewer. During heavy rain, that drain can become the lowest opening for sewage to escape. A backwater valve or a properly trapped and sealed drain can reduce that risk, and we explain whether one makes sense for your basement.
- Sump pumps with no check valve, a cracked discharge line, or a line that freezes in winter
- Floor drains with dry traps, broken covers or no trap at all
- Laundry and utility sinks draining into a floor drain without a proper connection
- Water heaters set directly on a damp floor with rusted bases
- Sewage ejector pits with unsealed lids or no vent
- Old clay or cast iron lines with roots or cracks allowing groundwater in

Septic Properties Outside the Village
Some homes around Navarre rely on private septic systems, which are regulated by the health department as well as the plumbing code. Inside the house, we focus on what feeds the system: clear-water connections that should not be there, water treatment backwash that may need a different discharge point, and plumbing vents that keep the drain system breathing properly.
If a sale inspection is coming, check that the septic cleanout and lids are accessible, that no sump or downspout is connected to the system, and that every fixture drains freely. A slow drain on a septic property can be a plumbing problem or a septic problem, and it helps to know which before a buyer's inspector writes it up.
Fixing Discharge Lines So They Last
A sump correction is not finished until the water goes somewhere useful year-round. We size the discharge line, add a check valve, slope exterior runs so they drain, and include a freeze-protection fitting where needed so the pump keeps working when the outlet ices over. For pump replacements and new pits, see our Navarre sump pump service.
Damaged fixtures and failing lines can be handled through our repair and replacement work in Navarre, and larger drainage reworks through our construction plumbing services.
Our Process
We begin with a free estimate built around your inspection report or violation notice, then you approve the specifications before work starts. Once corrections are done, we test them and do our own quality check so you are ready for re-inspection. Our countywide code repair page has more detail.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can my sump pump drain into the sewer or septic?
Generally no. Sump water should discharge outside or to an approved storm drainage point. Sending it into a sanitary sewer or septic system is a common violation and can cause backups.
My downspouts go into an underground pipe. Is that a problem?
It depends on where that pipe leads. If it connects to the sanitary sewer or septic system, it usually has to be disconnected. If it goes to a storm line or daylight outlet, it may be fine. We can trace it.
Why does my sump discharge freeze?
Lines that hold water or lack slope freeze in Ohio winters. A properly sloped exterior line and a freeze-relief fitting help keep the pump working in cold weather.
Do you serve homes outside the village?
Yes, we work throughout the Navarre area and nearby Brewster, Beach City and Bolivar.
