Reading the Flames on a Propane Cooktop

Small, weak flames that lift off the burner can point to pressure problems. A healthy burner shows a crisp blue cone with only a hint of yellow at the tips.

Running low on propane can also cause sputtering or weak flames, so check the tank gauge before calling.
