Small PEX Projects That Make a Big Difference in Navarre Homes
Not every plumbing project in Navarre is a full repipe. Many of the most useful jobs are small: a cleaner hookup at the water heater, a bypass loop for a new softener, a utility sink in the garage or shutoff valves where there were none. PEX makes these upgrades quick and tidy. K & K Plumbing handles them from our East Canton shop, about 13 miles east of Navarre.
Water Heater Connections
When a water heater is replaced, the piping around it often deserves an update too. Older installations may have corroded galvanized nipples, stiff copper that makes future replacement hard or old gate valves that no longer seal. We rebuild the connection with a metal section at the tank, as manufacturers generally require, then transition to PEX. A full-port ball valve on the cold inlet and unions or flexible connectors make the next replacement simpler.
If you are replacing the heater itself, our Navarre gas water heater service can handle the unit and the piping in one visit.
Water Softener and Filter Hookups
Homes on private wells around Navarre often need a softener or iron filter, and city homes sometimes add one for hard water. A proper installation includes:
- A three-valve bypass or the manufacturer's bypass so the unit can be serviced without shutting off the house
- An untreated line kept for outdoor spigots, so you are not softening lawn water
- A drain line routed with the required air gap
- Space around the unit for salt delivery and filter changes
- Clear labeling of which valves do what
Why PEX helps here
Equipment rooms tend to get crowded. Flexible tubing can loop neatly around tanks and filters with fewer elbows, which keeps flow up and makes the setup easier to read. Our water softener installation team can recommend equipment as well as plumb it.

Adding Shutoff Valves Where They Are Missing
Many older Navarre homes have fixtures with no individual shutoff, or valves so old they will not turn. When a faucet starts dripping or a toilet runs, the only option is shutting off the whole house. Adding quarter-turn stops at each sink and toilet, and valves on branches to the upstairs or an addition, is an inexpensive upgrade that makes every future repair easier.
On a PEX manifold, every fixture already has a shutoff. If your home has a manifold, we can label the valves so anyone in the family knows which one controls what.
Utility Sinks, Spigots and Other Add-Ons
A laundry tub in the basement, a sink in the garage or workshop, a hose bib on the far side of the house or a line to a chest freezer's ice maker are all common add-ons. PEX makes them simple because one continuous run can reach most locations with no hidden fittings. For outdoor spigots, we recommend a frost-free model, which our Navarre hose bib service installs.
Garage and workshop lines need protection from freezing if the space is not heated. We include a shutoff and drain so the line can be emptied for winter.

Repairing Existing PEX
If your home already has PEX and something is leaking, it is usually a single fitting or a damaged section. We remake the connection with matched fittings, pressure test the line and look for anything else that might cause trouble. When the surrounding pipe is old metal that keeps failing, we will talk with you about whether a larger repipe would serve you better.
As with all our work, you get a free estimate first, approve the specifications and then we complete the job with a quality inspection. We also serve Brewster, Beach City, Massillon and Bolivar. For more on tubing and fittings, see our PEX overview.

Frequently Asked Questions
Can PEX connect directly to my water heater?
Manufacturers generally call for a metal connection near the heater. We install a short metal section or connector at the tank and transition to PEX from there.
Should a water softener treat the outdoor spigots?
Usually not. We keep an untreated line for outdoor use so you are not using softened water and salt on the lawn and garden.
Is adding fixture shutoff valves worth it?
Yes. Individual valves let you repair one fixture without shutting off water to the entire house, and they are inexpensive to add.
Can you run water to a sink in my detached garage?
Yes. We can run PEX to the garage with a dedicated shutoff and a drain so the line can be emptied before winter if the space is unheated.
